Floral Economics 101

Petals became a part of the Gaylord Opryland Resort at its beginning in 1974.

In fact, it was Petals Owner Larry Keeton, the dean of Nashville florists, who originated the successful "Country Christmas" celebration that brightens the resort each holiday season. 

Country Christmas celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2008 and Petals will be there to beautify the resort, just as it has from its beginning. It draws thousands of visitors daily from November through December to catch a bit of holiday spirit. 

Larry is the masterful designer whose talent is reflected in the decorations inside and outside the hotel, and many other places you look in Nashville during the holidays.

Dick's Flowers Inc., Mr. Keeton's original floral shop is just blocks away from Opryland Resort at 2618 Lebanon Road, and with Petals has delivered millions of flowers throughout Opryland Resort and Convention Center. 

Like our boss, we take great pride in our work!  We share some of it on photo pages accessible below, but first, let's explain our philosophy:

We purchase the highest grade flowers because they are larger, more fragrant, last longer and give you extra value.  From local wholesalers to the biggest of the international markets, our flowers are air-shipped from the growers to ensure freshness. 

We have talented designers at Petals, and even more backing us up.

The Gallery link below leads to pictures of our work that should wow you, and you might wonder how we prepare a thousand or more centerpieces for a dinner. We have a large operation with large florist shop within a few minutes of the hotel, and we draw on their resources when needed. We also obtain space in the hotel to prepare for special events when required.

We're not afraid to suggest alternatives to work within your budget.

Whether you need flowers for a wedding, a formal dinner, a reception or an exhibition booth, or just to show someone you love them, we'll suggest flowers that give you the maximum 'bang for your buck.'  We serve clients of all wallet sizes -- from an intimate balcony wedding with a two figure budget to those large events ranging into six-figures.

Floral Economics 101:  

The cost of our product is determined by the quantity, quality and type of flowers and containers used,  the labor involved in getting them to you in an attractive arrangement, plus a small fee for the design skills used to accomplish the work and to pay our overhead.

If you buy flowers at a discount place or supermarket, compare the size and quality of stems with what you get from a professional design florist like Petals.  You'll see it takes two dozen or more of their short-stemmed, small-headed roses to fill a vase like a dozen of ours. 

And, if you're expecting to find design skills at the discount place: Forget about it; it's not going to happen.  You might say that choosing a discounter over a design florist for your flowers is like choosing an air hammer operator over an endodontist for a root canal.  OUCH!
